DAY 16 = 24.4 MILES

Hello Beloved Reader,

Before I give you an update, on behalf of Dennis Herzog and his entire team, I would like to thank ALL of you for your donations to our Kickstarter to help fund the film, PHX2LA.  Unfortunately, the project did not completely fund.  Kickstarter is a program that is all or nothing.  That means that if we do not raise the full amount, we get nothing.

However, that doesn’t mean that it is over!! Far from it.  Dennis isn’t worried and neither am I.  God gave Dennis this dream of making a documentary about Pastor Tommy’s legendary run from Phoenix to Los Angeles and that means that God also has a plan on how He will fund the project.  As soon as Dennis finishes his run and is safe at home in Phoenix, he will give you all an update on our next steps to fund Project PHX2LA.

Once again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you too ALL who believed and still believe in this project.  We look forward to bringing you another opportunity to partner with us again in another way.  That thank you is extended to all who have prayed for Dennis and encouraged him along this crazy run from Phoenix to Los Angeles.  WE LOVE YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

TOTAL MILES COMBINED = 388.15 (67.15 miles short of schedule)

Last night I had the pleasure of talking to Dennis AND his safe car driver and step-dad, Dave.  They were actually on their way to the Los Angeles Dream Center.  THAT’S RIGHT!  Dennis has ran far enough to where they are driving distance to the Dream Center!  Can you believe it?!?  They’re getting ready for his final arrival, hopefully Saturday.  Dennis’ son Tristan flew in last night to help as well.

“The forecast was for rain, all day.  I actually wondered if I should even run today because there was supposed to be so much rain, but something in me decided to run.  After three miles or so, the rain just stopped.  It sprinkled a little off and on, but honestly, it felt like God just decided to hold back the rain for me today.” ~ Dennis Herzog

I believe that wholeheartedly!  I know that feeling.  Where you just KNOW that God intervened and did something just for you. It was a pretty straight-forward day.

Stephanie: What’s it been like for you following Dennis for the last two weeks in a vehicle?

Dave: It’s a little trickier when you’re in town, you have to either jump ahead of him or stay behind him.  But when you’re out in the middle of nowhere and there’s no traffic, it’s pretty smooth sailing.

Dennis: My legs feel good, but my feet are still pretty sore.

Dave: I’m amazed at how well his legs have adapted to everything. The first 3-4 days his calf muscles were so tight at the end of each run, but they’ve definitely loosened up since then.

Yes, our bodies will adapt to whatever we choose to put them through.  I remember when I started cardio kickboxing, my body had no idea what I was doing, but after the first 3-4 days, it adapted.  You can train yourself to do just about anything from introducing new foods to new workouts…I even trained myself to become an avid reader.  Yesterday, my day off of work, I sat on my sofa and read a book for ten hours.  Tell me again why it’s so bad to be single? LOL!

Dave: It’s been an interesting trip.

The goal is to finish my Saturday. Dennis’ goal is to run day 17 and 18 around 25 miles, giving himself a nice, easy, low-mileage run for Saturday.  Stay tuned…Day 17 is almost complete!
