DAY 4 = 26.38 MILES

TOTAL MILES COMBINED = 91.38 (8.32 miles short of schedule)

“Short of schedule” only means he may have to add an extra day if it cannot be made up.

“Avoiding discomfort only creates more discomfort. Forcing yourself to do something very uncomfortable, like a run, you are eliminating a discomfort.” ~ Joe Rogan

I heard that on Joe Rogan’s podcast today and thought it was fitting.  =)

Today’s run was almost entirely out of the city. There was a lot of rolling terrain and elevation. It was a more mind engaging run than the last three.  Dodging mud, loose rocks, puddles, watching for traffic, a lot of power walking…avoiding anything that could possibly cause an injury.

But even the most focused mind cannot avoid all injuries as Dennis discovered today.  His right foot began bothering him today. Where the pain is originating and what is causing it is still to be determined.  It could be his toe, his ankle or a tendon…we don’t know yet. Your prayers for answers concerning his foot, solutions and healing are welcome and appreciated. Believing this is something that stretching, sleep, and an anti-inflammatory can cure by morning.

Dennis took a nice long break at the Pilot gas station, half hour to forty minutes and he was ready to take off again.

“Considering, I still feel pretty good!”

We had a good laugh talking about daily step counts. I was laid off from my job a month ago and took on a temp job on a kitchen line just for something to do. I’ve been averaging around 17,000 steps a day. That prompted Dennis to check the step counter on his phone. In the last four days, Dennis step count totals 210,015 steps…so I won’t be bragging about my steps to Dennis anymore. LOL!

I’ll leave you with this quote from the same Joe Rogan podcast episode I quoted at the beginning of this blog.

“You have to take action and it usually involves suffering and sacrifice. Day by day, hour by hour, session by session, you are going to experience a degree of suffering.” ~ Russell Brand

It is in the suffering that you find out what you are made of. It makes you stronger, wise, braver…even if you fail, at least you tried.  There are many elements of life that can keep you from pursuing a dream. Fear should never be one of them.

From the Kickstarter page: “All or nothing. This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Thursday, March 16th, 2023 9:25am.” It’s so easy to pledge! I did it with a couple of clicks on my phone. To date, we have $5,221 pledged of $30,000. Thank you to our 17 backers! We only have 12 days left to raise the rest of the money. Help us spread the word!  We look forward to bringing to you PHX2LA in August of 2023.
